When it comes to climate change, cities are where the action is. Yet whenever we talk to civil servants responsible for climate in municipalities, we realise it’s the same thing all over Europe: more often than not it’s a one-(wo)man show, with very little time available for helping drive climate action. And every municipality seems to be reinventing the wheel

FutureproofedCities is a web-app to help solve that. It helps cities develop, monitor and manage their climate action plan in order to implement climate action more effectively. Cities can learn from other cities and engage their citizens to better transform their climate plan into action.


We launched in early 2017 and have about 65 municipalities, or more than one municipality out of five in Flanders running on FutureproofedCities, including Antwerp, Ghent, Kortrijk, Hasselt, Ostend, Vilvoorde, Bonheiden.

In addition we are currently running a pilot project in the region of Valencia, Spain and about to take on the next step of this project in the Nordics. Other than that, we are engaged with several cities and regions across Europe.

Job description

Futureproofed is expanding and is looking for a young, positive, creative and driven colleague to join our Customer success team. As part of a growing team, her/his mission will be to drive the existing and future FutureproofedCities’ users to the effective implementation of climate action and the successful use of the platform and to communicate relevant content through our various media (blog, newsletter, social media, ...) to support them in the implementation of their climate plan.

Key responsibilities

You will be supporting our Customer success team to scale our approach for new regions by:

  • Training and supporting new customers to get them on board in no time (organising startup sessions, work sessions, webinars, creating movies, ...)

  • Engaging, supporting and monitoring existing customers (answering our live chat, following-up with customers, writing and translating help center articles, ...)

  • Helping our customers with inspiring content (writing valuable blog articles, newsletters, ...)

  • Helping build and expand FutureproofedCities’ knowledge exchanging community (organising events, webinars, ...)

  • Building a community feeling via our social media channels (mostly LinkedIn and Twitter)

  • Understanding the (new or evolving) needs of customers


Must have

  • Motivation to tackle climate change and interest in the opportunities it brings for cities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in: French (native) and English (bilingual).

  • People skills: high customer-centricity, patient with empathy and natural enthusiasm, comfortable in public speaking

  • Self-motivated and eager to grow and learn. Pro-activity is a key-word at Futureproofed, meaning that we won’t tell you what to do

  • Planning and organizational capabilities

  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills

Bonus points for

  • Previous experience in a SaaS environment

  • A bachelor degree in communication, communication management, ...

  • Absolute team player; someone who likes working in a team as well as independently

  • Being able to speak and write in at least one additional European language like Spanish, Dutch or Italian is a clear-cut advantage
